Rev. Fr. John Rallis, Protopresbyter
Greetings in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!Guardian Angel Orthodox Day School draws its strength from two important partnerships. First, the school is the child of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, and as a loving mother, the parish nurtures and supports the school. The students and parents, in turn, participate in the life of the parish through worship, service, and fellowship. While Guardian Angel Orthodox Day School is open to Orthodox Christian families throughout the Chicagoland area, many of its families call St. John the Baptist their parish home. The other important partnership at Guardian Angel is the one between the priests, parents, and teachers. Each plays an important role in the Christian formation of the students. Of course, the most important factor for each child is the parents and the home. But we, the priests and teachers, will build on that foundation, nurturing your children in body, mind, and spirit. What we seek to accomplish in terms of our students’ overall education is wisdom, as described in Proverbs 9:10: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” At Guardian Angel, our goal is not only to teach students about God, but to give them the experience of God. Through prayer, worship, and the sacramental life of the Church, we seek to lay a foundation of faith and love for God that will build up the next generation of faithful, Orthodox Christians.
