Principal's Bio
Mrs. Maria Kroll, Principal of Guardian Angel Orthodox Day School, served as the Preschool Director from 2016-2021 and began serving as Principal in 2021. She has more than 25 years of educational, administrative, and leadership experience. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign, and her Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning from DePaul University. Her interest in becoming an educator was sparked by working with children at St. Basil Academy, a ministry of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, in New York. While raising her six children she was always involved in education, with a special interest in Orthodox education and instilling faith and love in the hearts of children. She was a founding director of another Orthodox preschool program and a co-director of the Family Synaxis ministry of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago. She has taught in public, parochial, and church school settings. Mrs. Kroll and her husband Dr. Anthony Kroll, a former Guardian Angel School Board President and a current high school principal, are active stewards and leaders in their home parish, St. Sofia Greek Orthodox Church in Elgin, Illinois.
